my obsession i guess... the small bowl is a handmade bowl that i bought from a fellow University student. I love the way the bowls look with fruit in them. Something about fruit in vessels...These are fruits bought from the University District Farmer's Market. We go on Saturday mornings and buy our fruits & vegetables for the week there. They are mostly organic, which means they are delicious. (Lots of folks say that buying organic vegetables and fruits is a rip off, but i say to them that no one ever argues that fresh fruit from the garden is better, so why would you want to buy inorganic food that is artificially ripened weeks before it is really ripe, when you could buy organic food that costs a little more, but is truly and honestly ready to eat and at the peak of it's flavor?) And as a further testament, just LOOK at this fruit!

Yesterday was one of the nicest days we've had in a long time, we visited the market, and then went to eat at a wonderful restaurant, called "Silence-Heart-Nest" which is about three blocks from the market. It looked scarily cultish, devoted to one of those Indian Gurus, "Sri Somebody," but the smell of coconut and curry leaves stewing was enough to pull us inside. The food was southern indian, we had Dhosas which were slightly sour mung bean pancakes, light and curry filled. Wonderful, not heavy at all. (We have a favorite Northern Indian restaurant in Seattle, we have been looking for Southern Indian fare for a while.) They completely filled us, and we got Mango Lhasis as well, all for under $25. And the staff didn't preach or even offer us a pamphlet. Very nice.
