just foolin with this ibook mystery got, and do-you-know-what? i was messin around and found this whole "terminal" app, and started it up. whaddya know? the whole os x thing seems to just be a "mac emulator" running on a base of straight up UNIX. it's got emacs, perl, pico, vi, all my old friends!

well, i'm not one for new years, or millenniums, or other madness relating to time, and yet i felt oddly compelled to celibrate UNIX time 987654321. (the 987,654,321th second from UNIX's inception on Midnight Jan 1st 1970 or Wed Apr 18 21:25:21 2001) So I toasted in the second that most closely imitates that famous Apollo countdown.

Perhaps I wanted to feel like I was celebrating a time that only a few others would bother to notice, sort of like making every second extra special, taking stock in a single moment with a select few people around the world, while the rest of the world sort of marched on in oblivion.

So i've created this journal, and i will start it out with not a bang, but a whimper. Gheesh, it's 21:50 already. Where does the time go?
