last year, when all the fashion lines unrolled faux fur, (on everything, from eyeglass frames to string bikinis) they had to re-assure PETA and other groups that it was simply to show how fun faux fur could be, how many advances had been made in the field of fake fur, and it was under NO circumstances a foray into fur acceptability, and an attempt to encourage folks to buy more REAL fur. normally i think peta goes too far, and protesting faux-fur seemed stupid to me, well, it seems that PETA was right to be worried, because all the lines rolled out at the beginning of this winter were loaded with real, and not faux, fur.
please folks, lets refrain from wearing something as tacky as a fur. short of a big honkin diamond ring, i can think of no better example of cruelty for no sake other than to display your affluence. it isn't like leather, where there is no readily available substitute of quality or affordability, quite the opposite... you don't really need it to keep you warm, it isn't any nicer than a fleece pullover, or a goosedown parka, (both of which can be obtained without cruelty to animals) it is only a way for you to attempt to compensate for your own insecurities by wearing the pelt of a dead animal.
