despite being a very common weed (mormon tea,) ephedra is being banned after being linked to 155 deaths since the Clinton administration.1
In 2001 there were 19,817 Alcohol-induced deaths in the United States, not including motor vehicle fatalities.2 alcohol is not being banned.
There were approximately 12 choking deaths related to candy in 2000.3 4 of these resulted in a ban on importation of candies made from the Asian Elephant Yam.4
