It is said that the 1896 edition of the International Cloud Atlas defined ten types of cloud. The book defined the ninth cloud as the cumulo-nimbus, which rises to 6 miles above the surface of the earth, which is the highest altitude at which any cloud can exist. So "living on cloud 9" would be as close to Heaven as one could get.
