List seven songs you are into right now, no matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your Live Journal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.
I'm always a little behind on music, so this stuff will all seem pretty old.
1) "Baby Just Brings Bad News," by the 22-20's (this band is no more, and largely, nobody's gonna cry over it, but this song and "Shoot Your Gun" showed real potential, I thought.)
2) "Crazy Times" The Team9 mashup of "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley, and "Sign of the Times," by Prince.
3) "Mass Destruction," by Faithless. (We need some politicians to speak some truths like the ones in this song. "Whether Enron, or Haliburton, greed is a weapon of mass destruction.")
4) "Back to the Life" by Spoon. Just the beat and some stripped down guitar. Spoon can't sit still. There is a lot of gold in the Spoon toolkit. They could fill this whole list, IMHO, but this is just my current favorite.
5) "The Hardest Button to Button" by the White Stripes. There are only two people in this band?
6) "Scarecrow" by Beck. Tucked away amid Guero's unusual mariachi riffs and other weirdness, is this chopped up guitar sample tune, which is the only song that's ever compelled me to hit the "repeat" button.
7) "Freedom Hangs Like Heaven" by Iron and Wine. A lot of Iron and Wine leaves me flat with the thought that "this could've been a good song if they'd have just stopped whispering and kicked it up a notch." Freedom Hangs Like Heaven drives and stomps like something folksy and bluesy off the second side of Led Zepplin's "Four." Iron and Wine should be this band all the time.
Hm.... Seven other people?
