Scene opens in Pacific Northwest, 1880.
A white man stands overlooking a forest with his young son.
White Man: See that expanse of wilderness, son? The people that live there, they believe that the land has been given to them to steward, to protect. They do not take an action without considering the effects of that action upon the next seven generations of people and animals. They believe that community property is more sacrosanct than personal property. They believe that humilitaing and shaming your enemy into correct action is a more powerful tool than killing him. Instead of a distant god that has given man the earth as his personal charnel house, they believe in a spirit that lives and breathes with the fate of the land.
Young Son: What losers!
White Man: Don't worry, they'll all be dead soon. I just gave them a gift of smallpox infested blankets.
