• Mon, 22:02: RT @StephenAtHome: Mt. Dew is testing a Doritos flavor. Said the head flavor scientist: "I am become crunch, the destroyer of worlds."

...or should that be dew-bious?
  • Mon, 16:32: RT @FactHive: Although difficult, it's possible to start a fire by rapidly rubbing together two Cool Ranch Doritos.

er... prove it? Fact hive (now defunct I believe) had a bad habit of *never* citing a source. This tidbit came from a lifehacker post.

Survivalists usually carry something like cotton balls soaked in petroleum jelly to start a fire in wet conditions. Doritos (or any chip really) are simply hydrocarbons soaked in fat, a very similar product as the cotton and vaseline, but with the advantage of being edible, so more appealing to hikers looking to take as little in (and out) of the wilderness as possible.
