[profile] mtthw asked me t'other day, "isn't it about time for an exchange?"

six or more months ago, i began to set up an exchange but before i could carry it off, i encountered some personal hardships, which i am past right now. unfortunately, one of many the things i lost in the melee was the names and addresses of those wanting to participate in a postal exchange. so the old exchange is right out. (sorry)

the earlier exchange was going to be a monthly thing, but i can't see administrating that right now, so this will be a "test exchange" to see how it works. if it goes really well, and we get positive feedback, i may set up a regular monthly exchange, and i will certainly have another semi annual exchange or so...

so here is how this will work, if you'd like to be included in the exchange, please email to me (steffan at u dot washington dot edu), BOTH your email and your physical address... the first fifteen people are on the exchange, (along with me, of course.) once i have fifteen i will email a text file to everyone, and then everyone has a month to create an edition of fifteen small postcard sized prints, this can be an art print, or simply a homemade postcard, essentially whatever you want to mail out to fifteen folks. ( but you may get fifteen 3 by 5 cards with digital prints on them in exchange... you pays yer nickle, you takes your chances....) and mail one to each member of the list. if anyone doesn't get fifteen prints after a month and a half of receiving the text file, (not counting postal difficulties) they should complain to me via email, (don't harass the people on the text card yourself, they are artists, after all, and could be poor.) if you ditch two exchanges, i will not let you in on any other exchanges. dems de breaks, kids. in order to be fair, i've given myself a strike for failing all of you on the first exchange.

now, costs should be minimal, i just made and mailed an edition of around fifteen small (8" square) prints over christmas, and it cost me about $20 to mail the prints out (about sixty cents postage per recipient, the rest went to purchase bubble wrap mailers, if you make a postcard, it requires no mailer, and postcards are much cheaper postage-wise. )

sound good? good. so, send your mail if you want to be "in on it."
