"If you're going to come in and just say America is creating the rotten ruin of the world, I don't think the video should be shown."The quote is from a parent in Federal Way, Washington, where Al Gore's movie "An Inconvenient Truth," will not be shown in school because it offers no countering viewpoint. The school policy says that there must be a "credible, legitimate opposing view (that) will be presented, (as well.)" Since it's hard to counter inconvenient truths with 'credible and legitimate' criticism, (stuff that doesn't bring in the concept of sky fairies, or junk science, I guess,) the school has opted not to present the facts at all.1
They should throw out the mathematics books as well, then.
