Sorry, a null post again. I'll have content again at some point, I swear.

I was going to write about Ben and Jerry's getting in trouble over naming an ice cream black and tan, (apparantly an insult to Irish who were oppressed by brutal british soldiers in a unit of the same name.) I was going to say something about that, and the Snapple Flavor "Bali Blast" which they took off the market on their own after the Indonesian nightclub explosions, but I can't really think of any points to make... So you are free to make your own points, and then I will agree with them.

If you had just five ingredients with which to make food with for the rest of your life, what would they be?

My choices, chosen for versatility:

1) avocado
2) rice (or some cereal grain, like wheat)
3) olives
4) chicken (I am assuming I have live chickens here. They were on the boat.) Since this was a "Veg" recipes community, I will cede replacement of the chickens for the sake of the audience, with oh... yeast.
5) beets

I'm also assuming this strands me on a desert island in the south pacific portion of the mediterranean.

Edit: this post made me think of [personal profile] kmo's awesome post on this style of sustainable agriculture involving ducks and rice paddies that may make Japan self-sufficient as far as food goes.
