Nov. 14th, 2005 06:19 amThis weeked we walked around and bought small things. We went to West Portal and looked around for sandpaper. Then to the Japanese Peace center to buy sumi ink and rice paste glue at the Kinokuniya Stationary store. That place is like, cute central. The bookstore itself was okay. It was what you'd expect in a Japanese bookstore, people tying up the fine art stacks trying to discretely look at near-pornography, while blocking access to any of the works on edo era printmaking. Americans need to learn that there is more to Japan than tentacle rape, but the Japanese keep furthering the stereotypes by making the dern stuff.
We also stopped at a craft store in Daly city and bought circular knitting needles, a ruler, and unpasteurized orange juice at the Trader Joe's next door. California is so awesome in that you can buy raw milk and raw orange juice without worry. California recognizes that people can be trusted to make their own frikken decisions.
No progress on the print (other than making a stencil to darken the areas that didn't transfer so well,) mostly because I needed a ruler, sandpaper, sumi ink and rice paste glue to continue.
That is all.
