I've decided.

Life's too short to be unhappy. I've always felt the urge to create, to use my hands in service of the gentle mother earth. To awake and smell the good soil, and feel like I'm giving back to the society and the planet that I've taken so much from.

So I'm off to Afghanistan to become an Opium Poppy farmer.

It's a growth industry, besides, they are so pretty.
We all knew it was going to end this way, but it is sad nonetheless.

California nullifies San Fran same sex marriages.

<sarcasm>I can't wait for all the repugnican gloating over the issue.</sarcasm>

Actually the court just ducked the main issue, (Is same sex-union allowed at all?) and nullified the marriages by saying that Mayor Newsome had no right to issue licenses based upon his own interpretation of the State Constitution. In other words, the Mayor is not the Supreme Court of California.

If Newsome was trying to force recognition of same-sex marriage in Cali in time for the November elections, then this legal sidestepping has pulled the teeth on his efforts. However, it may open the door for future decisions as those with nullified certificates take their cases to court.
Governor McGreevey of New Jersey admits an affair with a man, resigns. Frikken AMAZING.

So the America I loved still exists, if not in the White House or the Supreme Court or the Senate or the House of Representatives or the media. The America I love still exists at the front desks of our public libraries.
