i've a few questions. keep reading, even if you aren't deaf, maybe you know the answers. is there a livejournal site with an ASL "Sign of the day?" (Like
wordoftheday or
slithytove's kanji of the day.) i'd love to learn ASL, but don't have the time for a course right now, maybe a sign of the day would help immerse me a tiny bit.
i've also always wondered about a few concepts. are there signs that mean one thing or another depending on context? is there ASL poetry? do the deaf look at the unconscious hand gestures of the hearing and see them as sort of a tourette's syndrome, interpreting the odd twitch or flutter as an involuntary outburst, random ramblings that sometimes coalesce into a single word or phrase?
