The Strange Death of Zachary Taylor
Mar. 4th, 2011 06:11 pmAt work, somebody asked: "I was just thinking, what do you think is the strangest cause of death of any American President?"
I know, who sits around at work thinking up Jeopardy questions? That's the kind of crew I work with now, though. All super data nerds. Which is kinda awesome.
Anyhow, this question grabbed me, and when I got home, I started to look into it:
The answer is probably Zachary Taylor, who in an attempt to cure heat stroke, overdosed on iced milk and frozen cherries.

In other Presidential Death trivia, three presidents were most likely killed by doctors looking for assassin's bullets (Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield, and William McKinley.) Washington's death was likely complicated by the doctors in attendance bleeding him with leeches.
