Last night I dreamed a dream.
I had some errands to do, at various stores scattered all over. I went to the first place, and I went to the counter and I paid for my purchases with a $20 bill. The cashier gave me change, in nickels and pennies. I tried to object, but she said, "It's legal tender, you'll just have to accept it."
The next place I went, I tried to pay in some of the nickels and dimes, but as I counted them, the pennies stuck to my fingers, making it harder and harder to count out more change, which also stuck to my fingers. Finally people in the long line began to object loudly, so I gave up in frustration and paid with another large bill, and got... more change in nickels and pennies. Clearly no-one wants these and they are shuffling them off onto me. I'm dismayed because I have many more stores to go to.
So after four or five stores, my pockets became so overloaded that I could barely walk, and paper or plastic shopping bags don't hold the heavy change without breaking open and spilling change all over, change which isn't even worth the labor to stop and pick up, except I knew there is $14 or so dollars there, so I tried to stop and pick up a few handfuls and realized that I was far too heavy now, to stand straight up again, and for some reason I was in the middle of the road, with oncoming traffic.
Of course, this is when I woke up. In the shower I wondered why I didn't just use the debit card?
