Feb. 8th, 2005 10:55 amI've decided to remove the image/cookie from my site that allows me to track site statistics. I think that even though it promised not to, it creates pop-ups for some browser/os configurations. In any case, I originally enabled it expecting to compile some interesting statistics. I've had it enabled for about a month and I've come to the conclusion illustrated by the pie chart below:

In case you are interested, the "germans looking for porn," (which is what I'm calling all the random arrivals into my site,) most often arrived at the following three entry pages:
This entry on "Wards and Hands":
http://www.livejournal.com/users/saint_monkey/2002/11/18/
This entry on "A Window on Fatehpur Sikri" by Hiroshi Yoshida
http://www.livejournal.com/~saint_monkey/114601.html
This absurdly long and sardonic report of the beginning of the end for my old ford escort:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/saint_monkey/2001/08/15/
So I've just about plumbed the depths of what datamining my own site can tell me. If you want to drive traffic to your site, write long missives about art, car trouble, and voodoo.
