there are all kinds of ways to correlate statistics.
i really thought that this way was pretty funny.
2000 presidential election results by average state IQ.
of course correlation isn't causality, but...

EDIT**** of course, this turns out to be completely unreliable, and i fell for it. i thought this was a good source, but they have since retracted, citing the fact that they did not actually fact-check the book that the article's author drew the state average IQ from, and the book's author has come forward to say that there is no such table in his book. (however, the umass student that is the source of the table has yet to come forward to say whether or not he inferred this table based upon the information in the book.) anyhow, i apologise for being so easily duped. from now on, if i can't confirm the source independently i will post it with a note stating as much ...****
