gregor's cup

this talk of cup stains makes me think of gregor's cup. it's one of my user icons.
gregor is gregor jamrovski, a co-worker at amazon.com. he used to come over to my desk and ask me about internet explorer problems, while peeling raw cloves of garlic with a pen knife. he'd cut the little stems off and put them in my trash can, where a day later they would stink and i'd wonder what i had stepped in, until i'd finally flip out and smell everything and move the trash can somewhere else when i realized what it was. gregor would eat the raw cloves. despite this, i really liked the guy, and he never stank of garlic personally. (but then again, i usually stink of garlic anyway, some i'm not one to judge.)
anyhow, gregor had this french press, and he'd make cup after cup of espresso, which he would pour into his little cup. this cup had an incredible patina. it was literally black with a million layers of coffee stain.... just rings of coffee denoting a thousand years of espresso. it was a testament to an unholy religion of coffee. that kind of commitment has to be admired, and if possible, preserved.
