( a parody - not by me.)

Senator Durbin:

Last week, you had the nerve to compare torture conducted by America's brave men and women in uniform to torture conducted by Nazis, Soviets, and Khmer Rouge, and today you finally apologized. As well you should have: that comment was offensive. Deeply offensive. Many of the proud men and women at Guantanamo were deeply upset by it, shaking with anger, fear and doubt as they kicked naked men in the ribs and released the dogs. One soldier could hardly muster up the morale to brain a prisoner and stuff his semi-conscious head into a toilet bowl. But they found the strength and resolve to keep going, senator. Because they aren't torturing for Nazis or communists or some third world hellhole. Those boys are torturing for the stars and stripes, senator - and don't you forget it.

(and not a parody, not by me, (and not funny either...))

We had a caller on our show this week, a United States Marine for eleven years, who said – Before, we knew if we got caught by the enemy, we might be in serious trouble and might have to suffer abuse, but now we know for a fact that we will get tortured if we ever get caught because of what our government has done.

And to this, the Bush administration responds – it wasn’t us, it was the troops!

They blame all of the abuse – over 300 documented cases throughout Iraq, Afghanistan and Gitmo, including at least 28 homicides – on rogue soldiers. With a straight face they say that all of these soldiers independently came up with the idea of torturing people simultaneously in all of the different places we were engaged. What an interesting coincidence.

Dear work,

This whole work thing? You know, where I'm supposed to come to work and do work and all?

Yeah, that's not working for me right now.

Love,

Steffan
Just an observation,

People that say "Thing X happened for a REASON" are probably trying to justify something that has no reason.

EDIT!: I've thought about it, and can now add: Usually people that say "Thing X happened for a REASON" are ALSO trying to cover for something that they did that is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY stoopid.
