Dec. 22nd, 2003 10:55 pmi'm thinking of writing a sci fi story about a private security guard on a oil company spaceship full of little intellegent hindu pacifist amoebas. he's transporting them from their homeworld to earth, where they will work in zero grav, deep underwater, etc... as they are immune to pressure concerns. the pitch is, there is only one xeno-psychologist/biologist on board, and the guy turns up dead of acute frostbite, leaving the security guard alone to determine how the guy died, and whether the amoebas did it. he can't transport them to earth if they are dangerous. he's hindered by the little amoebas religious concerns, communication problems, (they comunicate by release of various salts into water,) and the belief that they are each several different distinct entities. ie: if you get mad, you are a different entity than a "calm" you. so when one of the little bugs goes insane, all of the other bugs can't tell which one it was, since they don't "recognize" the insane state of their friend.
